Grohl says about the documentary:
“This film is my love letter to every musician that has ever jumped in an old van with their friends and left it all behind for the simple reward of playing music.”
“What started as a project to pull back the curtain on the DIY logistics of stuffing all of your friends and equipment into a small space for months on end eventually turned into an exploration of ‘why? What drives us?’”
The documentary follows rock bands Radkey and Strarcrawler, as they take on the world and explores the logistics of what life in a van is like. It also tells stories of the biggest stars in the industry and their time on the road.
The film features stars such as Dave Grohl himself, Ringo Starr, Slash, Flea, The Edge, St. Vincent, Ben Harper, Steven Tyler, and many more.
Every band I knew including the Beatles had to start out touring in a van. Congratulations @davegrohl on this documentary "What Drives Us," and I'm glad I don't have to tour like that anymore! Peace and love, Ringo.😎✌️🌟❤️🎶🎼🎼🥦🦏☮️ https://t.co/IUEfEKCd5d
