ChatGPT Passes Law School Exams

Just incase you’ve been living under a rock recently and don’t know what ChatGPT is, here’s a quick recap.

ChatGPT is a chatbot which was developed by OpenAI which can write songs, poems and even help with school or university assignments, which has people worried about our future.

While it hasn’t outscored any actual students, yet, ChatGPT will get you a pass mark.

According to UniLad, law professors at the University of Minnesota had the chatbot take their exam last year, before mixing the submissions with actual students’ and anonymously grading them.

According to sources, the bot averaged a C+ where as actual students averaged a B+. But this means, if the chatbot was human, they could in-fact get a law degree.

“Alone, ChatGPT would be pretty mediocre law student,” said study author Jonathan Choi, who also worked on the research project with professors Kristin Hickman, Amy Monahan and Daniel Schwarcz.

“The bigger potential for the profession here is that a lawyer could use ChatGPT to produce a rough first draft and just make their practice that much more effective.”
