Even if you’re not a sneakerhead, there’s something undeniably exciting about the new Nike-centred movie ‘Air’. 

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have teamed up for the biopic showcasing the rise of Nike, which Affleck also directs.

Set in the 80s and inspired by true events, the movie follows Nike founder Phil Knight (Affleck) and shoe salesman Sonny Vaccaro (Damon) as they pursue the greatest athlete in the history of sports, Michael Jordan.

Sonny wants to create the greatest basketball shoe ever made, and he has the crazy idea to build it around Jordan, who is a rookie at the time.

Of course we know how the story ends: Nike creates a line of shoes, the Air Jordan, that literally changed history, and Jordan becomes an iconic player.

As Damon’s character says in the movie: “His story is going to make us want to fly.”

‘Air’ also stars Jason Bateman, Viola Davis, Chris Messina, Chris Tucker and Marlon Wayans and hits cinemas on April 5, 2023.
